Rectangular process tanks in PPH, HDPE and PPC/FRP

Extrusion-welded rectangular tanks from homopolymer polypropylene sheet, for lines where a rectangular footprint, chemical purity and integrated exhaust matter.

01 — CONFIGURATIONS

Rectangular tanks for lines that run all day.

Thick-panelled PPH suits the open-top, rectangular vessels found on process lines, where FRP would need expensive moulds and liners.
TYPE 01
Pickling tanks
Long rectangular tanks for steel and stainless pickling, with push-pull exhaust integration.
TO 21,000 MM LONG
TYPE 02
Plating and anodising tanks
Process and rinse tanks for electroplating and anodising lines.

TYPE 03
Electrochemical tanks
Cells and process tanks for electrochemical production.
ELECTROCHEMICAL
TYPE 04
Rinse and recirculation
Supporting tanks, sumps and recirculation vessels for the line.

02 — SPECIFICATION

The envelope, in numbers.

Wall thickness and rib spacing are designed to DVS 2205 for the hydrostatic load and the operating temperature.

04 — HOW WE SIZE IT

What the design has to account for.

Chemistry and temperature. Polypropylene strength falls with temperature, so the design is derated for the actual operating point.
Hydrostatic load. Wall thickness and rib spacing to DVS 2205 for the liquid height and length.
Weld method and verification. Extrusion and hot-gas welding, with joints tested in house.
Exhaust integration. Push-pull or lip exhaust designed with the tank, not bolted on after.

05 — CONSTRUCTION

How a PPH tank is built

01
PPH sheet
Homopolymer polypropylene, chosen for chemical resistance and weldability.
02
Extrusion welding
Structural seams extrusion welded for full-thickness fusion.
03
Ribbing or frame
External PP ribs or a steel frame to control wall deflection.
04
Tested joints
Weld joints tested destructively and non-destructively in our own facility.
05
Line-ready
Supplied with exhaust connections, drains and fittings for the process line.

07 — QUESTIONS

What engineers ask us first

These answers are also written for search. Each question is a query buyers type into Google, which is why the FAQ block sits on every equipment page.

Why PPH rather than FRP for a rectangular tank?+
Rectangular FRP tanks need moulds and heavy reinforcement. Thick-panelled PPH is welded from sheet, resists the same chemicals, and is quicker to build to a custom size.
What temperature can a PPH tank run at?+
It depends on the chemistry and the load. We design to DVS 2205 with temperature derating for the actual operating point.
Can you supply the exhaust hoods as well?+
Yes. Push-pull and lip exhaust are designed with the tank and the rest of the ventilation system.
How are the welds checked?+
Weld joints are tested destructively and non-destructively in house before despatch.
